The La Plagne ski area
La Plagne's ski area spreads across a vast bowl with varied sectors: broad boulevards above the treeline, forest runs by the lower villages and high slopes reaching glacier terrain.
Together with Les Arcs it forms Paradiski, hundreds of kilometres of pistes on one pass, linked by the Vanoise Express. Intermediates rule here: few places offer so many long, flowing red and blue descents. But beginners and experts find ample terrain as well.
Snow reliability at altitude
La Plagne owes its reputation partly to its elevation: the central stations and most pistes sit at or above 2,000 metres, with ski terrain reaching high glacier slopes. Recent winters recorded up to 191 centimetres of snow.
That means reliable skiing from early December deep into April. The lower villages at the edges of the area can show green meadows in mild spells, but up high the base holds through virtually the whole winter.

La Plagne consists of more than ten centres, each with its own character. The high stations are built for functional ski convenience: apartments right on the piste, shops and restaurants within walking distance. Lower down lie chalet villages with a more traditional feel.
The whole resort is clearly family-oriented: ski schools, childcare and calm village streets set the tone. Apres-ski exists but stays good-natured; for big nightlife La Plagne is not the first choice.

La Plagne is a family and group destination par excellence. Beginners have calm practice zones by almost every village, intermediates endless kilometres, and experts can push themselves on the high flanks and in the off-piste after fresh snow.

You reach La Plagne via Moutiers and Aime in the Tarentaise; count on 10 to 11 hours' driving from the Benelux. The train to Aime or Moutiers with a connecting bus works well, as does flying into Geneva or Lyon.
