Les Arcs offers a broadly laid-out ski area with long descents and an impressive vertical: from the top of the Aiguille Rouge at over 3,200 metres, pistes drop thousands of metres towards the valley.
Intermediates love the flowing red runs, while experts head for steep terrain and off-piste lines after fresh snow. Via the Vanoise Express you also switch to La Plagne, making Paradiski hundreds of kilometres of pistes on a single pass.

With stations up to 2,000 metres and pistes reaching beyond 3,000 metres, Les Arcs is a snow-sure choice. Recent winters recorded a maximum snow depth of 191 centimetres.
The high north-facing slopes hold their snow well, stretching the season into April. Only the lowest forest runs towards Bourg-Saint-Maurice are sensitive to mild spells in December and March; higher up you simply keep skiing.
The villages: functional and car-free
The centres of Les Arcs were designed in the twentieth century as car-free ski stations, each with its own feel, from compact and lively to spacious with chalet-style architecture. Everywhere the same principles apply: short distances, ski-in ski-out and amenities at hand.
Down in the valley lies Bourg-Saint-Maurice, a real town with a railway station, connected to the heights by funicular. Apres-ski in Les Arcs exists but stays modest; evenings are relaxed rather than raucous.
